Introduction and a question
Hello everyone,
Just to let you know I have never played kriegsspiel before or any other war game, except the computer game Field of Glory, so I really am a compete novice so please excuse what may appear to be the stupid questions I ask!
What I want to try and do to begin with is to play solo kriegsspiel, is this possible, and if so how do I go about it?
Many thanks for any help

I may be mistaken, but I think the entire essence of Kreigsspiel is multiplayer... I'll let the gentlemen in the group answer this for certain. If ther eis a solitaire modification available, I'd be interested too!

The game is designed to be played between 2 players (or preferably teams of players), with an umpire (or preferably umpires) handling things like fog-of-war and communication lags with other players on their own team.
Where do you live, piltdown? If it's within reach of SE England, you'll be very welcome to join us for a game anytime. Next is on Sunday 18th November. Games are occasionally held elsewhere in the UK and in other countries, but not on a regular basis.
One other alternative is to acquire a copy of the scenario booklet originally produced by Bill Leeson. I think it's now available from TooFatLardies. This gives you a dozen scenarios set on the Meckel Kriegsspiel map - which they also sell. The neat thing about that booklet is that it gives briefings for both Red and Blue forces, but also initial orders for one side. So you can ponder the briefing, and write initial orders for your own army, without knowing the precise strength, deployment and objective of the opposing force. You can then set up your map and play the game out solo playing both sides to see what happens. Not as good as a MP game, but still quite fun, and quite a good way of learning the game.

Thanks for your replies and thanks for the invite to your club session. Unfortunately I live a distance away from the SE (live in N. Devon) so it would be difficult for me to attend.
Thanks for the information on the game produced by Two Fat Lardies. I think perhaps this may be the way to go.
All the best
