OK, so not done this before and need to see if it works.

I have created two groups with Father General and Mr Digby in both.

Confederate Players
Martin
Mr. Digby
Leffe7
Father General
Baldwin1
FlashmanKBE
SWeathers
col shiloh

Union Players
Beefstu
Blaugrana
Father General
kg little mac
kg_sspoom
MajorByrd
Mr. Digby
Muleskinner
Uncle Billy
WJPalmer
WSH Baylor

I am now hoping those in opposing camps can not see into those forums.

Please post here ref this. Of course Mr Digby and Father General should be able to see both...

Also there is an ability to join the group if you check the user group options. This is the way to get access to the forums from now on. At some stage these groups will be locked so you can not join once game underway.

Hope this works out OK...

Well done. I only have a view of those loyal to the Union. This site is no longer disgraced by the presence of traitorous rabble.

Thanks for the prompt response. Can you test the joining option for the Confeds and I will see when / if I get an e-mail asking for you to join...

Sounds good.....but no direction on how to "jine the cavalry" (or proper forum) which is necessary for those of us who are computer impaired.

Thanks

Probably no dual view for Mr. Digby. He's gonna take a brigade command only, as I understand. But he's welcome to correct me! :-)

Uncle Billy I have approved your request to join the Confeds but once you confirm you can then see their forum I will remove your access.

For those who have not spotted the feature look to the top of the screen and along the bar that says Home, FAQ, Search, Memberlist, User Groups!!!

UserGroups is the hot spot to click with your mouse...

Use the drop down list to select the group you would like to join and then I will get an e-mail...

Farther General would you like to be made admin so you get the e-mail and moderate those two forums?

OK done, you should now have the power of moderation and the ability to create Stickies and edit peoples posts etc... just within the three forums of the campaign, union and confederate players....

Needless to say... but I will do anyway.... Please use it wisely....

Also just removed myself and asked to join so now you should get e-mail asking if I can join the confederates.... Follow the e-mail link to give me approval or deny my request...

Will be off line for rest of night within an hour....

But I hope I have now given you the ability to fish....

Please don't add me to OOB it is just a test to see that you now have ability to control who joins which side...

I believe I should not be able to see the Union side? I am a Confederate general, after all.

Martin James can see the Union sub-forum and shouldn't be able to as a Rebel. (He's away for a couple of days so asked me if I could follow up on his behalf).

Could you switch off his access?

Thanks,

Jeff

I might be a victim of a forum bug and the confidential areas are the only things I can think of causing it.

When I log in there is always a flashing arrow indicating new posts in the "western campaign" sub-forum. Afer I read all posts, it remains flashing. Any ideas?

Maybe you can revoke my access to the Rebel folder and then reapply it or something.

He is not listed in the Union usergroup list that I can see. Maybe he has some admin permission?

Worst case, he may just have to stay out. :-/ I can't deny access to him, at least not with the settings I have.

I removed you then added you back.

Do you have some level of admin? That could be the cause.

Thanks Neal. Maybe Martin can look into this when he has time, or he can, as you say, just promise not to peek.

FYI Martin has Admin access (a bit like letting a child have a loaded gun, but there you have it. (Purely in the sense of his extensive IT knowledge))...

He will have to promise not to look, I am sure he will not do so as he will spoil his own fun....

Or in worse case I can take it away from him....

The choice is yours.....

No Ideas on this could be forum bug, in meantime dark glasses or a bit of black sticky tape on the monitor?

Yours ever helpfully...

I have utmost respect for the integrity of the Martins and their desire not to spoil their fun. However, particularly with the high volume of posts we're generating, either Martin could read a post that he shouldn't despite all his best efforts. Do you need admin rights, gentlemen? If you don't, then perhaps that would make life easier.
