Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
You will need the couriers and maps mod and the Antietam expansion pack.
We still need two Commander in Chiefs and can take many more players.

Who is Weathers? Players need to have played in one of our casual games so that any isues can be addressed and problems ironed out before they join a scenario game.

We have an issue that these scenario are causing CTDs with and without the couriers and maps mod. So we may have to devise a new plan.

Looks like we'll be going with Sunken road because it fits the amount of player (7) and it's more balanced, that is if I can create it in time.

The guys wanted to try one of them out. So it's actually good we did try it rather than have a flop on the day of. It's just sheer numbers, the union commander would have to be a real Burnside not to win on that scenario.

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
I think there is actually quite alot of interest in this battle youv'e organised.
Some folks wont have been registered here at the Kriegsspiel forum or on Doodle but i wouldn't be surprised if there was an influx of late join'ees when the time comes about.
Several GCM players have shown an interest and some new players in general too.
Cant be a bad idea to hopefully get something on stand by just in case theres a few more than 7.

IMO, we should try and get people to play in at least one casual, sandbox game before joining a scenario game. This ensures that people are up to speed on mods, game version, MP play, TS, TS whisper lists, house rules etc before their first scenario game.
This should cut down on time spent sorting problems out at the beginning of scenario games. I also like the scenarios being special occasions.
Perhaps tonight we should just play a sandbox battle and postpone the scenario game until we have two CinCs with time to issue orders and players who have already played in at least one regular HITS & Couriers battle.

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
Its a good and valid point Jeff.
A couple others here have mentioned it too.
I agree with it myself in principal , however at the HITS TS server there is often no presence of hosts at regular times or even other players. This can lead to situations where new, interested, kriegsspiel minded inquirers, who would like to find out more/try the mod,sit there for long periods with no one about nor any way of finding out anything other than making a post here on the forum. This isn't easy for "first time posters" either.Confidence isn't always there straight away.
I'm pretty new here myself and seem to have "overposted" already on matters perhaps out of my "juristiction" , still , i'll always say the same thing regarding this.
I myself would be happy to sit out of ANY battle at any time to help a new player get settled and become a participator/contributor if im around and available. This of course helps with focused input from them, and a little patience, that i understand frustrates some.
Time is always the thing we don't have enough of....but it would be even worse..if we also don't have enough players....
AND even worse again if it was a poor attitude from us towards the new blood because we felt somehow they were not worth our time.
WE were ALL new once.

I agree, Cleburne, that we need to encourage players who are new to our Kriegspiel-style HITS games.
What I should have said in my earlier post is that I will try and take part in more regular games now the Olympic summer is over. We do need to have regular games going on for the scenario games to be special and I have been absent from these games for ages. I hope to play more.

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
Luckily I was able to get LP to fix at least Sunken Road beforehand, I did inform him all three were broke so maybe he fixed them all. There is point objectives so not sure we need long briefings since we know what obj you need to get as well as the historical pretext. @Neal it starts at 11:30 PST, most likely all the spots are filled unless you want a battery.
Well I am fine with no CinCs if that stays the case and we can play this one without chain of command, just for the sake of playing it for the anniversary, or maybe someone will step up and I can take the other CinC spot. Playing time is what matters now.

Remember for this scenario you need Antietam Flags and Couriers and Maps mod(s) activated.

I not going to make it, so play on, gents!
It's probably for the best. I'd likely leave the entrenchments to attack. What a red cape is to a bull, so is the blue sack coat to the Father General!

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
It's quite ironic that I pressed for the game so bad and I was badly wounded by a minie ball in battle (lost connection) -- I was too close to the lines, but can't lead from behind.
So speaking from my death bed I hope my men fight on bravely and keep the sunken road from falling into federal hands. Cleburne bring up your men!! Damn Yanks! Aaaah!! *clenches chest and makes writhing death noises*

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
Thanks for your effort in organising this Baldwin.
It was a great turn out and a few new folks got involved.
Thanks to all members who were patient and helped in the process.
Things didn't run as smoothly as we'd have hoped once the battlefield was reached however.
As well as losing the Confederate commander early in the fight we then were faced with the introduction of "Lil mac's watch" which bought those yankee's much needed time to retreat and get back to Washington.
Meanwhile the Confederate army sat on the hill and watched as the great skedaddle commenced and all in "slow motion" with subtitles.
Mind boggling.
However the sunken road remained in our hands until we offered submission to the broken federal army in exchange for contraband and extra wagons to haul it home in.
Seemed reasonable at the time.
They however refused to accept our surrender on the grounds of not having enough men to safely escort us to the border unharmed.
A most strange affair all round indeed.
thanks to all for the fun.

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
It was a clear victory for the rebs. They could have won with half the number of troops available. We have again proven that green troops attacking seasoned ones in a good defensive position is not much of a battle.

Re: Sunday 16th Sept Antietam MP Scenario
Yeah I was reading up on it because you said that and apparently Kimball had three veteran regiments. However in the OOB it shows the "veterans" as a 2 and two 3's, not very veteran by SOW standards. It does say Morris had raw recruits and just says Weber's brigade was cut downed quickly, probably caught off guard.
