Cigar box pocket kriegspiel
Hi all, Kev from UK here.
So years ago I came across a website blog that featured a kriegspiel style game that was fashioned from a cigar box. It was a very simple ACW game with a divider rather like battleships and acetate maps place in one of the lids. Pegs were used to move troops on the vertical board amd when two pegs were placed into same hole in the vertical board 'contact' was made and the pieces placed on the game board visible to both players. I recall some really interesting game dynamics and was fascinated by the game in itself.
Now, I cannot find it at all on line ! Any one recognise this ? Who the originator might be and where I may be able to get further info? It was a home made game I believe he called pocket Kriegspiel. As said entirely fashioned to be stored in a cigar box.
Thanks in advance
Kev

Hi Kev
What an interesting idea.
I've never come across this game myself. I wonder whether it ever went outside of a small group?

Thanks Martin,
It was entirely home made a one-off. The brigade commander cards were based on the west point class list from 1830s from memory, with lots of variability built in for weather conditions, supply, movement. It was very clever and obviously very transportable. Battle resolution was simple and effective and the battleship style board allowed for an effective fod of war element.
I did at the time print the post as a paper copy to read on holiday, I hope I still have it, still looking ! I wish I could recall the name of the chap who made it and posted details online.

It reminds me the use of Matchboxes. The same guy of Berthier software has a simple Pc program version on his web:

Thanks for link. I remember reading about the matchbox method in one of Featherstone's books. A very long time ago.
