H.I.T.S. Camera
Martin,
Please try this setting for the camera hight, in C:\NorbSoftDev\Scourge of War - Gettysburg\Work\SOWG.ini (configeration settings) under Custom heading, change 10 to 2 in both plyrradius and MPplyrradius.
[Custom],,,,,,,
ailvl=0
moralelvl=0
regstrength=100
plyrradius=2
courierlvl=4
minimap=4
MPplyrradius=2
MPcourierlvl=4
MPminimap=4
Try a single player game, let me know what you think.
i think its the ony way to play this great game, and is whats sets it apart from other Civil War titles.

Re: H.I.T.S. Camera
Sounds good CoB. Thanks.
Will give it a go. I suspect I will prefer it.
How could we use it in MP? As we've previosuly discussed, the option screen only allows you to change the camera setting in 10 yd increments.
I suppose you could do it with a mod? But you can only use one mod max in MP I think? Maybe we will end-up with a k/spiel mod, which makes this and various other changes to increase historicity and realistic constraints.

Re: H.I.T.S. Camera
nope no mod needed just change those values in the SOWG.ini from 10 to 2 for both SP and MP and its done, the options screen will show the change.
i believe that only the host would have this set for MP.
Yes we will have to have a K-spielMod mods folder to put all the changes in, but should work fine, as long as we dont mess with the forbidden files.

Just tried it CoB. I agree. Much better, and that's how I will play in future.
If you host on Monday, then we can all play with this setting.

Re: H.I.T.S. Camera
Very well... until it crashed about 50 minutes in.
I'm new here, joined after Blaugrana and Ike invited me though I've been playing Scourge of War since Christmas, all online games with Garnier's GCM group. I prefer more historical play however and less 'gamey' play than happens over there so I got myself involved with you guys.
Yesterday went well, we had a division commander each side plus 2 brigade commanders, with the division commanders also taking a brigade and the reserve artillery. I was surprised that the 2 yard HITS limitation worked vey well although I was lucky enough to get myself onto a very advantageous knoll of sufficient height to see almost everything that went on.
Hamachi as a tool to connect seems excellent and it gets around all the silly firewall and router nonesense but then I have used it many many times before to play MP games of Jutland.
I've written an AAR but I am not surte were to put it up - I see there is a forum for Kriegspiel AARs - should it go there?

I don't see why it shouldn't be posted there. Yes, please do. And congratulations on your promotion from mere Digby to Mr Digby.
We are having another game for definite on Thursday evening (UK time). And there may be one this evening if enough folks turn-up on the TeamSpeak server at 7.30 pm GMT.

Re: H.I.T.S. Camera
If you gents want a section of the forum dedicated to this game system I can easily create such a place. Or if you are happy to keep posting here that is fine.
I can name it whatever you wish and you can have your own AAR section if you wanted one? For me I am happy for the AAR to be posted in the AAR section and I can create an article on the main web site to help try and boost your player numbers...
The main web site is here : http://kriegsspiel.org.uk/
And if you send me or Martin a Word doc I can get an article link onto the front page and your article with any pictures onto the web site. Just an idea...

Re: H.I.T.S. Camera
That's an idea. Could we have it on the home page as a 6th area, along with General, Practical Kriegsspiel, Game Management etc?
Perhaps 'PC-based kriegsspiels' rather than just Gettysburg, as there will soon be others we are playing. HistWar les Grognards might be an early additional candidate for example.

Yes easily done, just need a list of sub forums under it? Suggest away and I can do the tweaks on the forum on Weds

Re: H.I.T.S. Camera
Many thanks. Perhaps we should just start with one sub-forum for each of those 2 games then Mark?
Unless anyone has other ideas of course....

I'm currently unable to post my AAR of "The Action at Spangler's Farm" as the forum software does not allow new members to post URLs for 7 days.
I'll post it up next Wednesday!
