Attack or Defend?
Grumpy Grognard
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,
I thought it best to introduce myself a little by merely explaining why I be here and a little of my resume to back that up!
Having recently discovered the game Scourge of War and as a result the Krieg spiel community here I thought it best to join the forum so when I treat myself to a copy of Scourge of War it’ll be easy to join in on the odd well run game over the internet.
My pedigree goes beyond that though! Oh yes, having actually played a game of Krieg spiel(the one where you get placed in an airing cupboard and reports are handed to you as they become relevant to the game and your detachment) where my small cavalry wing pulled off not only a successful action, but indeed the only action in the entire game! After a few minor skirmishes taking on scouts as if they were no more than mosquitos my detachment was advancing up the secondary road. A heart clogging helping of cannon was spotted sitting menacingly on a hill across a bridge with woods behind them. Because of this rather horrendous hurdle I sent my small but spitfire detachment down the river aways where a small crossing was found, gallantly walked the horses up through said woods and behind the cannon. Thereafter the men promptly mounted their horses and charged the sulphur sniffing blighters! Wiping out every last grotty little man. Even the enemies infantry was caught half cocked say what!
The main bulk of our forces commanded by some other chap marched up and down the main road achieving little more than wasting an entire day. Good thing I ignored the silly old sausage!
Now that you’ve heard that I’ll say a few more things about myself because of course I assume you have the time. I don’t, but the idea of doing some actual work at the moment is off putting.
I have played several table top and computer based Napoleonic wargames. Mount & Blade being my favourite experience! Napoleon Total War was fun but the damned thing crashed just a few too many times for my liking.
Producing my very own boxed Napoleonic wargame but that’s rather hush hush old boy.
Sculpting figures for fantasy and science fiction war gaming. I’m mad I tell you, mad.

Yes, welcome to the forum. Hopefully you'll join one of our MP game one day. You'll find that they are not particularly competitive, but do offer a fair representation of early 19th century warfare.

Welcome from I too.
Living in London you may be up for the face to face Napoleonic KS which I shall run in Gaddesden next year? Lifts available if necessary from NW and W of the city.

Thank you for welcoming me. Yes I certainly shall be joining in your MP games before the end of the year! Though I would appreciate some advice about installing this KS mod when the time comes.
I appreciate the games may not be particuarly competetive, and that's not what I'm after the whole time. Would just enjoy a thoroughly strategic and non arcady tactical experience set in the blackpowder era.

I'd LOVE to attend a Napoleonic KS game! And am currently residing in Greenwich at the moment. They may change early next year but I'll still be in London.
Be warned though, should I attend beer/liqour/wine and nibbles will be brought along in the supply wagon.

Re: Grumpy Grognard
There is a (Viking) game Nov 27th and then games in March, April and May next year, followed by three in the autumn too. The Napoleonic game is likely to be one of the Spring ones.
