A very "stylish" Kriegsspiel game
The game was played on Dec 12, 2010 at Schloss Zeilitzheim in Germany:

Yes, it’s a most impressive looking game, and I hope that ‘Hessian’ will post again.
From the photos, it looks to me as if the spirit in which our German kameraden play the game is closer to the original Reisswitz approach than ours, using casualty dice for example. We ceased to track casualties in any detailed manner several years ago, and in general have attempted to speed-up play wherever we can.
It would be very interesting to hear from any of the participants as to how long the game lasted. My German is not great, and I may have misunderstood the text, but it looks to me as if there were only 4 in the umpire team to deal with 7 players. We would tend to use a higher umpire-player ratio – again to speed things up.
The period equipment was very nice to see. I am wondering whether the ‘hour-glasses’ were used in play, and if so, how?
The photos suggest that the players could see the umpire map whist the game was in progress. Is that right, or were they taken after it concluded?
