30. Second Battle of Torrelavega - 30th March 1809 Torrelavega

On the north coast of Spain about 60 miles west of Santander Marechal Ney's VI Corps has advanced again to attempt to push General Acevedo's Army of the Asturias away from the important Torrelavega road junction. The Spanish are deployed west of the Eltz Fluss with their left flank on the coast and the right resting on strong rising terrain at Hochsteten. The French have deployed opposite, on the east bank of the Eltz Fluss mirroring the Spanish exactly - right flank on the coast, left on rising ground.

We have two scenario specific rules:~

1) No troops may move off road south of the east-west road that passes through Hochsteten UNLESS they are infantry in skirmish order. Any other troops south of here must stay on roads in road march column and move only by using road march. This is to represent the steep and broken nature of the terrain here on the north slope of the Cantabrian mountains.

2) Each side has a safe or exit zone marked in brown for the Spanish and blue for the French at the NW and NE map corners respectively. The usual rules apply here.

We shall try to play this battle on Sunday January 3rd at 20:00 GMT / 15:00 USA EST / 12:00 USA PST. I have set up a Doodle Poll, please sign up here.

If we get more players than we need, we'll automatically switch to one of the bigger scenarios that are waiting to be played. This game needs 7 players; Alba de Tormes needs 8, and Ojos needs 10 (see separate threads for these other battles).

Many thanks.
