Biological Warfare of the 19th Century:
Wildungen has been infested with snails.  Carried downstream in the slow moving river, the disgusting creatures have come ashore and taken up residence throughout the town.  All sausage and beer making activities have come to a halt.  The people are in panic.  The army has been called in to quell the chaos and help destroy the invaders.

By order of the Emperor, French breeders brought to Kippringen thousands of the delicacies, and released them.  The goal, of course was to bring fine cuisine to the barbaric Prussian hinterlands and make the occupation of this benighted land bearable for the French soldiers.  With the deed accomplished, it is time to move and occupy the city.

Objective: Capture Windungen and protect the budding snail population.

That was a very hard fight. I've never known the 1806 Prussians to be so tenacious. It was good to see more of the Meckel map as well, its a really nice map with some excellent tactical positions and very good scenery. Now the walls and hedges have been reduced its looking much better. I didn't quite get to see Wildungen... as the game ended its spires were beckoning me in the valley below but those obstinate Germans kept me from reaching my goal.

I guess we'll have to spawn a new snail farm elsewhere.

The Prussians were definitely fighting above their weight. They were more like Russians. My battle for heights at Waldau lasted nearly the whole battle. By the time I had crushed the Prussian left my men were all worn out with a number of battalions near half strength. The Prussian cavalry was extremely effective, keeping me from making any meaningful progress. They darted out from behind their infantry to attack mine and then quickly retreated back to safety. They rarely gave my own cavalry a chance to confront them. Very unsporting.
