French language question Empty French language question

Post  Mr. Digby Sun Dec 07, 2014 4:46 pm

Hi all,

I'm building the late 1808 French OOB for the Peninsular campaign and there are lots of foreign contingents. As much of the OOB is Franglish anyway I thought I'd try to write these in French. Does anyone know the French (of the period) for:

Baden ?
Dutch (Néerlandais?)
Hesse-Darmstadt ?
Nassau (Nassau?)
Frankfurt (Frankfort?)
Hanoverian (Hanoverienne?)

Ta.

For the 1809 and 1812 OOBs I mostly used the Germanic spellings for those troops.

With pleasure...
Baden = Bade
Dutch = Néerlandais
Hesse Darmstadt = idem
Frankfurt = Frankfort (however Frankfurt could be also)
Hanovrian = Hanovrien
