Campaign update
We have 13 players for the final battle, which may be a bit short for numbers. Have we been having a lot of last-minute arrivals?
If you haven't yet signed up for the battle, please do so now.
http://doodle.com/4kpwzkba8t5973hc
Tonight I will be reviewing the OOB for the last time and I will let commanders know what they have to work with. Also, for the final battle some players will be locked to a side in addition to those who are committed to Union or Confederate. I will let those who need to know, know.
Tomorrow I intend to build and test the scenario, then I will send copies out for testing in preparation for the final battle.
The map is still yet to be decided, but will be either Pipe Creek 2 or 3.
Thank you and we'll see you Saturday!

Re: Campaign update
Still haven't managed to pin down what my daughter is doing over her birthday weekend, so I'll either be there or I won't!
If its a particularly big battle in terms of number of soldiers you can always set the sprite ratio higher so us dinosaurs with the slower machines don't struggle.

Re: Campaign update
Weathers is on a reenactment trip this coming weekend I think.
There might always be 1-2 unexpected arrivals though.

Re: Campaign update
Hays is out and Kevin seems to have a time constraint for that day.
Do we think we'll have a better ROI by postponing just 1 week more? I can post an alternate Doodle tonight.
If Weathers reenacts Confederate, then I can support the delay for his sake as well. If he does Union, then I'm afraid he'll have to be hanged.
Followed by a fair trial, of course.

Re: Campaign update
I would be fine with waiting one more week. I don't think it will be the some without the guys that won't be able to make the game on Saturday.
Just my thoughts, since it has been so much fun it would be nice wait one more weekend.

I do? I'm happy with any time. I also think it may be a good idea to press on if 6 or 7 per side will be enough to run the scenario.Father General wrote:Hays is out and Kevin seems to have a time constraint for that day.

I'll push ahead.
Although command may be a handful...
Better call up the reserves for Saturday! You're gonna need them.

Re: Campaign update
I have the OOB where it needs to be. A test scenario is built and I need to prepare the briefings. After reviewing the final OOB numbers, I found I have to spend a little more time thinking about the briefings and victory conditions for both sides. I will have the scenario ready tomorrow. I have a preliminary version already built and everything seems to work.
We need several more players for Saturday because all the units will be on the field. Unless you have really experienced fellows on division command, you will need every hand you can get. Please beat the bushes for stragglers and deserters. We will need everyone to ensure this final battle is fun for all.
Thanks!

Re: Campaign update
Hi Neal.
Just my 2Cents, but I think you will be alright with the current numbers.
For me, the fun is not the double if 20 players play or only 10. Many of our players are capable to run a division in HITS, there is no need to have every brigade controlled by a human. Though, it helps if the battle is very spread out.
In my experience the more players you have, the bigger the risk to loose some of them by dropping. If this happens, remember that a corps commander may still give orders to units below a human played division commander if he uses the courier commands for that.
Cheers
Stefan

Re: Campaign update
Hi Stefan,
Knowing what I do of the coming scenario, I recommend more players for the sake of the side commanders. However, we will press on with what we get. I might even try to play, although I have dropped the past few games. I suspect I may have a developing router issue in my home, but I cannot yet be sure.

Re: Campaign update
Probably a huge bummer but something has come up. I'm leaving the city tomorrow morning and won't be back before Sunday. At least.
I will only have rudamentary Laptop access while I'm gone. It can run teamspeak but it can not run Scourge of War. If I need to appoint someone to command instead of me, let me know.

This does not bode well for the Union. For Byrd is to General Georgia as Burnside was to Lee.

Re: Campaign update
I'm going to put up a second doodle. If I get more response for the following Saturday, I'll postpone one more weekend.
We can't delay any more because I'm holding up the Napoleonic campaign and that would be unjust.
Any feedback?

Re: Campaign update
Well, it would certainly be a shame if Seitzinger isn't present to surrender his sword in person. In turn, I shall present him with a spoon, wooden of course, to take to Elmira prison camp.

Byrdside understands that a disciple of McClellan can not fathom the finer nuances of offensive maneuver. You are forgiven Sir!
A wooden spoon? I think I shall have two to three Union prisoners feed me once the war is won.

Re: Campaign update
I can now make the 26th so we have 14 players. No doubt a few more will show unannounced on the day. How many does the scenario need? Our TS server can only accomodate 20!
This was one problem I had with the Nap campaign last year, I have decided that not even the 2 C-in-Cs are going to be needed in the battles this time around as long as they can e-mail me their plans and orders, a stand-in will take over in the interests of keeping things flowing.
EDIT: Just had a thought. There is a Nap campaign battle all set up ready to go. We could play that on Saturday if key people are missing from the Lost Division line-up. A dozen players is plenty for that.

Let's play.
I'll be in Houston next weekend. And Kevin would be lost without me.

Does mint sauce go with lion as well as it does with lamb?
