Fast Announcements of ad-hoc games
Speaking of miraculous new Tools like Webcams, Google Docs, Google Hangout, ... I wondered if we could use some tool for advertising our ad-hoc games? It's too bad if players would be willing to play but don't see an ad-hoc announcement in time.
For example we could create a Whatsapp group, so each member would get a pop-up message on his smartphone if a game is announced. Those interested in playing could quickly reply.
Alternatively you can probably set the "arranged games" section to be a watched topic somehow which generates an E-Mail if someone posts something there?
Thoughts on this?

Re: Fast Announcements of ad-hoc games
Just got the news about Whatsapp being bought by Facebook
There are many alternatives that could be used instead, like Lime, iO, Threema, ...
EDIT: Ok, forget Threema. It isn't for free and it only allows group chat for up to 20 people.

Hi Leffe,
I'm a big user of Google's free products. Facebook can serve a similar function, where a community site can be set up and messages posted for event planning with minimal fuss and immediate delivery for free. If you just want the messaging ability then there is Twitter, but its not as popular as the other big 2.

Re: Fast Announcements of ad-hoc games
I clicked "Start Watching Forum" when I was in the "arranged Games" section.
Yesterday, I did receive an E-Mail that something new was posted (Mikes game on Feb 20th), although with no details and the provided link did not work.

I think the better and easier system are two:
mailing list: exists many free MLs
newsgroup: usually they are also mailing list at the same time, like yahoo and google groups.
