Scourge of War - Sunday 19th - 1 pm GMT onwards ?
If anyone fancies playing this afternoon, please drop by Ike's TS server. I'll try and be around from 1pm GMT. Can't make regular 7.30 slot today.

How did this game go chaps? I noticed someone outside our group has posted on the Norbsoft forum today with a similar issue, so they may not have cured it.

Hi,
I had a great time, thanks, and hope the others did too:
First, Digby, 4thTEXAS and myself played a 90-minute 3 vs AI game to completion Ended up with Digby and me surrounding one poor Union regiment on three sides with abut six regiments pouring fire into it. We won :-)
Then, we played a 3 vs 3 Yanks vs Brits game, with NY Cavalry commanding Baylor & 4thTEXAS (CSA) against Cleburne commanding Digby and myself (USA). We had a wonderful time getting into position and the Rebels were about to hurl themselves against vastly overwhelming forces that they couldn't see and get hammered*, when ...
the game froze. Very disappointing, but it had been great fun nonetheless. Oh yes, we had cavalry!
I then left, and I don't know how many more batles were fought.
Let's keep trying, as often as possible, and keep recording who fought, who hosted etc etc to see if we can see any patterns. eg: how many successful games have there been of players vs players?? The succesful games that spring to my mind have been players vs AI.
*Sorry for the 'spin' - couldn't resist.

Cleburne, Baylor, Gibson and I played a 4 vs the AI tonight that ran 70 minutes to completion, couriers at brigade level.
I am hearing more and more over on the Norbsoft forums (from guys in the dev team) that the crashes are a combination of conflicting mods and patches that were corrupted by mods and so on. Essentially corrupt game installations for various reasons.
I suggest everyone should release their licence, uninstall their game, reinstall it, reactivate their licence and patch it to 1.4012 and then (and ONLY then) add in any mods you want.
Also, when playing, turn off any irrelevant mods.

Glad you had another complete game. Games vs the AI seem to be more successful. It would be great if e could keep a log of all games.
I'vegot some noted down. Anyone else got some I could add - who, when, parameters, what happened....

The scourge of mods?
Had not realised games were happening weekend afternoons, but will certainly look in at Ikes TS next weekend 1pm ish, as well as 7.30 - 8pm weds and friday this week. Its very encouraging the scene is taking off in this way, now some of the learning curve is overcome. Its potential is vast.
Also seems credible that the freezing problem in courier games may be down to the unwanted presence of mods, or mods corrupting patches when they are applied, rather than to the original code
