Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
I'm giving the Scenario Generator an update to work with Waterloo.
Please test it and tell me if something doesn't work.
Notes
- you can now add custom maps including a minimap picture
- The Generator now has to be installed like a MOD under Waterloo\Mods - you need to activate the Mod - and after you created a scenario you must close WL and restart it!
- Only stock WL OOBs included for now. The most popular KS OOB can be added later. Suggestions? You can still add a custom OOB as usual.

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Thanks, Stefan. I presume we can still use the mod as a standalone program too.

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Ah, interesting; so now the SG can be used from within SOWWL? You run SOWWL and select the scenario generator?

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
What is the purpose of installing it as an SOWWL mod? I'm confused.

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
It is required as the units names are taken from a media file outside the scenario folder. Thus, this file is created during scenario creation.
This way you can have duplicate and generic unit names if needed, just like in the GB version. Also it does work with any custom OOB this way.
Testing shows that (part of) mods are only loaded at startup, so you need to launch the Generator after scenario creation in excel.

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
You see something like "O-1-inf..." .
Try exiting Waterloo and loading it up again (if you had Waterloo open during scenario creation). Can you see the correct names then?

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
I've used the SG to create a number of scenarios with the KS OOBs. Here are my suggestions.
1. Don't try to create MyGui files. It will just cause you headaches. Every OOB will have to have an xml file anyway so you are just reproducing what already exists.
2. Use the IDs of the OOB.
3. Put the 2nd names of the OOB in the scenario. Do not use #Ref. The OOB xml file should already have these name tags in it.
4. Use the division commander's class and formation from the OOB.
5. Use the courier and its ID from the OOB. Put only 1 per side in the scenario with 30 men, (that's important). Make sure it has the proper division number or corps number. Don't use the default values of 11 or 12. That causes an error.
6. Suggestion 5 should also be applied to the ammo wagons. Just pick one from each side and use that.

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Thanks for everyone's testing so far.
I'm trying to track down the unit names issue, where you see something like "O-1-div1-brig-1" instead of a unit's name.
I could go with Kevins suggestions, but then I'd loose some features of the Generator I'm not willing to drop yet.
So please give me some more feedback on this issue:
- if you reinstall the Generator and run the shipped-with sample scenario (without creating a new one first), do the unit's names appear correct?
- if the names are wrong, is it with really every name or are some correct?
- is everyone affected or is it working 100% correct for someone else?

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Hi Stefan
Thanks for this
I too get the "O-1-div1-brig-1" issue, all the time.
It is with the stock OOB's. I've not tried it with any other mods except RebBugler's toolbar_Grog Mod.
Perhaps, I didn't resign from the game immediately following activation for the first time. I wondered if this might be the issue for me?
I have tried countless times afterwards, including reinstalling the mod again.
Best of luck here
Mike
Thanks for this

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
I have uploaded a new Build (see #1 Post for link).
If you start the included scenario, you should see the following units:

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Thanks Stefan
It works for me too
One thing I noticed was that the starting formations for the brigades are reversed to that used in the game. This means that the battalions and squadrons have to cross over each other on way to their destination, for the first time. Is this because you have mistakenly got the drills even and odd numbers on the wrong sides?

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Thanks Mike
The sequence in which the units are placed in column with the Generator is
8 6 4 2 1 3 5 7 9
In what order do you see the units placed in formation in-game?

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
Hi Stefan
The SOW 'convention' for Level5 formations is that EVEN numbers are on the Right, ODD numbers on the left:
9 7 5 3 1 2 4 6 8

Re: Scenario Generator for Waterloo Testing
I have done a scenario with 3 divisions per side and everything seems to be working fine (just played the CinC and sent orders to the divisions then waited a couple of minutes).
Many thanks Stefan.
