HITS Game Weekend of Jan 17-18
Vienna has already fallen and the Austrians are falling back and regrouping. Napoleon has been slow to follow up, but finally he has put La Grande Armée in motion. His western most corp, the 1st, under the command of Maréchal Nicolas Oudinot has unexpectedly stumbled upon a large Austrian force near the town of Barsch. This has halted Oudinot's northerly progress as he must now turn and face this flanking force.
This 3 hour battle will require 7 but ideally 9 players as CinCs without troop management responsibilities will be a real plus. As always, many more can be accommodated with brigade commands. The battle will take place on the Alpine map, so no expansion map packs are needed.
This will be an asymmetric battle where the objectives of each side are not necessarily the same. Also, you have no idea what the enemy is up to. Both side could end up winning or losing.
It would be very helpful if 2 players would step forward as CinC so that detailed instructions and maps can be reviewed in advance.

Sounds good. Does the poll use Mountain Time Zone? Do these times translate to our usual times?

It should show your local time. I have set it up for the usual choices between 19-20:30 GMT.

For me it shows:
12:30 - 13:00 - 13:30 / 12:00 - 12:30 - 13:00
Looks like Doodle's time zone fixer thingy doesn't work.

Thanks Kevin
I'm working Saturday but should, hopefully, be home in time for the 8.30pm slot.
Sunday looks likely too.

If there are enough people we could play saturday and sunday (maybe Vimerio as well), in which case I would volunteer as CnC for any of the battles (just one of them).

Excellent idea. I don't have a copy of the Vimerio scenario, but I imagine Digby does.Pepe wrote:If there are enough people we could play saturday and sunday (maybe Vimerio as well), in which case I would volunteer as CnC for any of the battles (just one of them).
I think Martin, (the original), as Austrian CinC and you as the French would make for a great battle.

That's because the scenario generator does not use the correct map names for nappy battles. Open scenario.ini , go to the [init] section and look for map=. Change the name there to Nap_Aus_Alpine.

I think I was an Austrian the last time these two opponents met so I'd like to be a Frenchie this time if you'll have me Pepe.
Yes, I have the Vimerio scenario. I'd be happy to play that Sunday. For Matt's information its pretty historical and even the terrain is broadly correct. Its not a battle easy for the French to win so for a win we'll consider doing better than they did historically. They do however have a LOT of cavalry which historically wasn't much use due to the broken terrain so in SoW this becomes a more useful arm, giving their chances a boost.

Hi Kevin
could you send me a list with the changed Nappy map names (old_map - new_map), then I could post an update of the Scenario Generator.
Many Thanks,
Stefan

The shyness of this group is stunning. No one has yet stepped up to be the Austrian CinC. In order to flush out a pigeon encourage someone to take the reins, I suggest nominations from the floor.

Not much you could do last week. I can promise you this time the armies are more balanced.

Enjoy your party Mike.
We'll try to play Vimeiro on Sunday if we have enough players so hopefully maybe yo can then.

Mike there is a foolproof solution. Get them drunk. They'll sleep right through the battle.

The Austrians are going to have a hard time without a CinC. Someone needs to step up.
