Map Orientation Empty Map Orientation

I appreciate Martins work in finding the most suitable map for a given campaign battle, even if it means a map has to be switched by 90° or 180°.

But while playing the game I find it unnecessary difficult to communicate orders with other players until each understands the same heading if the "strategic orientation" of the map does not match the in-game map orientation and the in-game compass.
Therefor I suggest during a tactical battle the stock map orientation is used, so all players understand each other easier.

I take your point Stefan and I see the merits of what you suggest, but in the interests of realism and fun I aim to continue as-is. First I find that looking at the maps we know so well but with a mentally shifted orientation can make them look quite different and even appear to feel different during play. Secondly these are scenarios set against a wider backdrop of a strategic situation where events and places off-map need to be held in context and I feel its better if all players visualise the tactical map against that backdrop because then directions make more sense. Thirdly I like it that it's confusing and orders might be misunderstood. I find that very realistic. I'm glad to hear it's happening! Lastly twisting the maps around encourages me to see new details and landscapes in these maps and adds to what creativity I can put into the scenarios.

It isn't hard to readjust your mind to the changed orientation. Before we play you can print a copy of the altered map that I create for each scenario and keep it open beside you, and just stay alert.

How hard would it be, Kevin, to orient the in-game map so that it correlates with the scenario design?

The actual map or the mini map or both.

It's not trivial. There are a number of map layers in the lsl file that would need to be rotated too.

Of course, someone (Kevin) just needs to write the program.

Get to it.
