Spoils of Victory Empty Spoils of Victory

Just so everyone is aware, here's what's up for grabs at the battle of New Market.

WINNERS
-3 Brigadier promotions
-3 Weapons upgrades to Enfield(CS) or Springfield(US)
-2 Units named (e.g. Iron Brigade, Stonewall Brigade, whatever, etc.)
-All level 2 troops increase to level 3
-The town of New Market

LOSERS
-2 Brigadier promotions
-2 Weapons upgrades (ibid.)
-1 Unit named (ibid.)
-All level 2 troops increase to 3
-A nice walk in the opposite direction

Fight well!

Spoils of Victory Empty Re: Spoils of Victory

Post  Mr. Digby Sat Oct 20, 2012 11:56 am

A few of us were wondering the other night what will constitute victory, or will be wholly down to umpire decision upon the game time ending? We were looking at occupation of the town as perhaps being a victory condition but then there is high ground very close which, if it had artillery posted on it, would in reality make the town untenable. So just curious if you had any pre-concieved victory requirements on the day, or you'll play it by ear.

I'd also suggest that promotions and unit naming and unit experience upgrades be given as a result of actions in battle, that may ad a certain 'edge' to things and troops truly glorious actions would then have real meaning.

Is there going to be an in-game umpire? I know Stefan was an umpire in one of his scenario games.

If this was used then the recommendation have to come from the division commanders and through the corps commander to ratify.

The division commanders distribute these honors as they see fit.

Victory is determined by who holds the town at the end of the battle (nightfall). If the matter appears drawn, we will default to score.

We shouldn't need experience bumps if Hays experience carryover tool is working.

And they will be profitably exerting under a very trying drillmaster to prepare them for future engagements with the ability to inflict harm upon their enemies!

A unit must see action to get any bonus at all, however. Standing in the rear will not earn you any level increase. That clarified, I highly doubt that any unit will do any such thing. I am sure every man will do his duty. Smile

These "clarifications" need to be spelled out at the start rather than simply pontificating, "Oh, it is necessary to ............................whatever."

Excellent observation, Mr. Digby! Now, let's see what the "next clarification" will be! Razz
