Games for next year
Having just completed what I thought was a successful program of games in Hemel for last year I was wondering what type of games are the most popular and what the demand might be for next year.
As far as game scale is concerned we had examples of :
Our periods covered.
Is there any call for other periods or game scales, perhaps a game with one or two companies per side or a colonial, modern or ancient game, maybe even an Air Warfare scenario or something featuring more on the logistical side?
Is there anybody out there with an idea they want to discuss or go ahead on?

- Traditional detachments kriegsspiels at the divisional level.
- Free kriegsspiels at the Army/Campaign level.
- Army level Kriegsspiels covering a battle and the days that preceded it.

- Napoleonic Warfare at land and sea.

Preliminary dates for 2009
Am suggesting we run games in mid Feb, March & April 2009 for starters. We need to avoid Salute on the 28th of March.
Have been in touch with Richard Clarke of TFL, and their k/spiel Games Day on the Koniggratz-Sadowa map now looks like being later in the spring. Richard & I will keep in contact re that one to avoid overlap.
Am looking for volunteers to run some of these games, so please let me know if you're interested. We can provide assistance with designing the scenario, and also a plentiful supply of umpires on the day.

Possible games for next year
I would like us to do a Boer War game. Dave Stanforth and I have been thinking of putting one on for some time. Two very different styles vof fighting would make it a different experience for both sides.
I am thinking about a hypthothetical scenario with c10,000 men per side. Perhaps half a dozen commandos on the Boer side, and about 3 or 4 brigades for the British. Don't know whether Dave is thinking along the same lines though
This would probably be one for later in the year, as it would need a fair bit of preparation, and (probably) the drawing of a map.

Re: Games for next year
That certainly sounds interesting. Are you thinking of the relief of a siege or an offensive, will there be any armoured trains.
I think that a scenario involving guerrilla raiding of supply lines might be a possibility.
