Swamps Campaign Empty Swamps Campaign

Post  mitra Sun Apr 27, 2014 7:14 pm

I'm working on a 3 maps campaign, the contest is that of coastal federal operation: the US troops disembarked in force and fortified on the coast XXXX for proceed in the confederate internal area and cut the main railroad which supply the rebel forts of coast. But the march from the landing area resulted more complex than thought. A well protected fort and the swamps surrounding him repelled all the federal attempts to move to the railroad.

The first scenario of campaign is the battle for this fort. I terminated it today so we can play it when we meet the minimal number of players.

The mod necessary is the Secessionville mod:

http://www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/modifications/47379-secessionville-map-released

The minimal requirement is 6 players (2 unionist and 4 confederates) but there is space for mmany more players.

Rules for reinforcements and casualties:

Every next scenario will have predefined additional force to those of first one and the losses will be transferred for these last (50% of wounded and deserters will be recovered). In addition every 1000 points won in the battle there will be a additional 500 men strong regiment of infantry or a 5 guns battery or 300 men type 2 cavalry regiment or 100 men type 1 cavalry. Every strategic objective conquered (conquered means out of enemy range not necessarily occupied physically) during the battle, in term of reinforcements will be equivalent to 2000 points.

Victory at the end of three will be calculated in accord to these rules: http://forum.kriegsspiel.org.uk/t1028-some-suggestions-for-scenarios-design#9088

I will create a large map for the scenario and post the link here.

Edit: There already is a large version in Courier&Maps.

Yes you'right, I didn't see the courier mod was above secessionville. Perfect so the large courier is ok if you have it already.

Now I would like to have before two "volunteers" as CiC in advance, so I can send them the briefing in advance whenever is the day of match.

I believe Niall and Martin are hoping to be CinCs for this scenario. They seem to enjoy the power that comes from being in command.  Twisted Evil

Funny. I had those two names in mind when you asked for the two finest generals our group has.

Well that's what happens when you go away for a few days  What a Face

If no-one else will do it, I'll take one of the CinC roles.

I'm afraid somebody else will need to pickup the marshals baton for this one . I won't  be available for a game now for the next two weekends.

Do you want play as CiC for the south, Mike? Not sure there are a sufficient number of people for tonight but eventually I start to send you the briefing.

I doubt I will get chance to view a briefing today. After a 12hr shift I doubt I would be the best man for the job, anyways :-)

I'll be in ts from the 20:00 London time, so I can explain to eventual southern commander the briefing.

The ohter possibility is to play the backup scenario the hunt: I have the briefings done and the map is here https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9HfKiUYoDwzUVdrR3RRd0tLRHM/edit

It doesn't require much planning from both the sides.

I don't know if it is better at this point restart the scenario from the initial point, we played only half hour without any major action. The player already assigned to one side saturday will remain linked to previous side.

We played about 30 minutes in the end, and there were no significant happenings in that time, as far as I could see.  My personal preference would be to pick-up the game from that point, if it can be done.
