Re: Impromptu Games
I took the liberty to prepare for both - Kevin took the time to fix some of the things I forgot - so we can play both: a vanilla or a KS Mod game with couriers at 50

Re: Impromptu Games
Veni, vidi .... but we are still missing "vici" ...
I went to Piedmont, I saw the vineyards... and I forgot to charge the mobile phone before I went to Marengo.... oh well... I guess I should rephrase and simply state that the phone, commanded by an Austrian, refused to take pictures of this location - in the most steadfast and determined fashion possible...
anyway: the main question for this thread would be: any plans for tomorrow? do we already have a scenario for Sunday 06/09 ?
I'll try to catch up with what I have missed mod-wise by tomorrow and will also attend to my duties campaign wise... if there are any...

Re: Impromptu Games
Welcome back.
Kevin and I are meeting today, Saturday for a test. You'd be very welcome. I don't know who else is attending. Usual time.
During the week we've had four solid and very good games. Only 1 crashed with a host CTD 15 minutes from the end. We have been adding bits of the 112 version mod back in as we go until we got a bad frame yesterday after about 90 minutes. We think we've tracked down what caused it and Kevin is tweaking the toolbar again I believe.
We've made good progress. The problem seems to be a combination of inapplicable formation instructions via the toolbar (e.g telling an infantry brigade commander to form "double line" but hitting the cavalry double line button) combined with some additional load when a player courier is sent. This combo of events makes it a very rare and wild event, hard to predict and pin down. For example in last nights crash we had the same wrong formation button press about ten seconds earlier which the game ignored bu the next one, because it seemed to happen at just the same time as another player was sending a courier, made the game fail.
So the culprit does seem to be MyGUI after all. There's a surprise.

Re: Impromptu Games
that sounds very promising indeed! - I am glad you were successful!
tonight, I think, I'll be a bit too tired - I just came back after a 9 hour drive... but I'll report back for duty by tomorrow, gentlemen (and other animals)!

I take it 112Z.7z,453.A/6 is the correct version for tonight's game?

Re: Impromptu Games
I am free today Saturday 12th. I can be in TS at 20:00 UK time if anyone would like a casual game. I have a collection of Kevin's recent scenarios plus Pepe's Brussels battle of yesterday. We can choose one to play from the AI side.

Bravo. If I have time, would you like me to throw together a Reisswitz 1860s scenario?

Re: Impromptu Games
We were going to test stock WL with a computer running Win8. If the game crashes then we have fairly good evidence that the game plus couriers is not stable on OS's above Win7.

Re: Impromptu Games
Make up a Reisswitz scenario Martin. If we are lucky we might get WL to give us a bad frame error early, then we can play your scenario.

Re: Impromptu Games
great idea- if that happened however I'd have to ask for a link to the latest Reisswitz version - I never played GB since the PC got setup once more....

Re: Impromptu Games
Will try and do something but time is short now so cannot promise .
Just in case the force is with me, I suggest everyone downloads the latest version of the Reisswitz Mod, as I have made a few improvements recently https://www.dropbox.com/s/9kps9s2p313krb6/KS%20Reisswitz%20v1_7.zip?dl=0
You will also need to put the latest version of KS SOW Supplemental Maps 1.09 in your GB Mods folder. You can get that from the Napoleonic set-up page here https://kriegsspiel.forumotion.net/t1451-set-up-for-sowwl-napoleon-games-for-kriegspiel-style

Here is the scenario everyone has waited for. No mods should be used. Also, everyone should add this line to their sowwl.ini file. In the [debug] section, add mplog=1
