HITS Napoleon Game Saturday May 25th
HITS Scenario Saturday May 25th, 19:00GMT that's 21:00CET, 20:00BST, 15:00EST, 14:00CSR, 13:00MST, 12:00PST
I apologize for the early notice, but I will be out of town for a few days, I wanted to give people time to compose adequate lies to spouses, bosses, etc. so you will be able to participate.
Two French corps are racing to the aid of Marshal Davout who is facing the combined Center and Right wings of the Austrian army. The Left Wing under command of Archduke Louis has been tasked with the responsibility of stopping the junction of one of the corps with that of Davout's. The weather has been particularly foul and as a result, scouting by both sides has been seriously hampered. Neither side knows the location or line of march of the other. Even the composition of these two forces is not completely clear. It is late afternoon, the skies have finally cleared and cavalry operations can resume.
Besides the usual CinCs, infantry division and brigade commanders, each side will need two cavalry commanders. We will need a good turnout for this scenario, 12 to 20 players. That way the division commanders will only have 1 infantry brigade to directly command. If a division commander drops, the CinC will not be overwhelmed with a large number of brigades to takeover. Otherwise, we can just roll the dice and hope no one will drop. Although the sides will be unequal and each has it's own problems to overcome, either team should be able to win. If not, blame Digby.
To play, you will need the standard Napoleonic mods that have been in use in all the previous games.
1. Road To Wagram and Peninsula mod along with the patch.
2. JustCouriers 1.602 mod
3. Random Maps 6.
4. GCM Terrain4 mod.
Sign up is on Doodle:http://www.doodle.com/ty4ttwdcdwif2bn3
Come onto the GCM Teamspeak channel 15 minutes early. The size of the armies will be based on the number of players to a large degree.

Signed up!
It would be nice to play on a map with some houses and walls again! There were so many Napoleonic battles that centred around villages and walled compounds like churches, stone barns, granaries, etc.
Garniers maps are lovely but I still suffer a break in the immersion when I ride to "Hemsdorf" only to find its an empty crossroads.

I'm intrigued and on board - and since I'll do my second gig as C in C this Saturday, I will be delighted to serve under my overall commander and will follow him anywhere

Years from now, when the game is almost perfect, Digby will say, "If only my general's boots were a bit of a darker shade of brown. . . ."

Apologies, now can't make this game. I have a daytime event that doesn't end until about 21:00 my time at a location a 2-hour drive away.

I've just realised its a Gaddesden game the next day which means I'll stay over at my friends house near Cambridge and drive across, saving me time, petrol and letting me have a few beersKhryses wrote:It's okay Diggers, we'll see you the following morning - I hope?

All in a good cause
For those I was complaining to about London transport on Sundays (last time ) I've found a much faster way to get across town - and cheaper at that.

Re: HITS Napoleon Game Saturday May 25th
Kevin, having just signed my life away as a CinC in this one, could you furnish me with a little clarity on the situation? I believe:
1) This is going to be a roughly Corps v Corps size engagement.
2) The Austrians are "blocking" the French from trying to reach their "destination"
If this is correct, it sounds like the Austrians must try to find the French, and engage them, while the French are trying to *avoid* the Austrians.
Is this right? Because if it is I think there's some extra information missing - like which map edge are the French trying to reach?
I expect I've gone astray somewhere, but if you could put me straight now, it may help me having a clue what I'm trying to achieve!

Atta boy!! I shall send the CinCs a bit of additional information privately. But you essentially have the gist of the situation confronting the Austrians. But it's not exactly a dish of creme brulee for the French.Kevin, having just signed my life away as a CinC in this one, could you furnish me with a little clarity on the situation?

Re: HITS Napoleon Game Saturday May 25th
I have some good news and some bad.
The good news is I bought a brand spanking new car about 6 weeks ago.
The bad news is I had the bad luck 2 nights ago to run over two cats who were fighting and dashed out about 25yds in front of me on a motorway.
This was extremely bad news for the cats too, although maybe whoever was losing got a very small and extremely brief sense of compensation in knowing that in the end he got a draw out of it.
The even badder news is that the front plastic fairing of the car was pretty well demolished as two beefy ginger toms went head first through it at 70 mph. The car is presently undrivable over about 40 mph as loose parts down at the front start flapping and rattling about in the airflow.
Good news - I may be able to get it repaired Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
Bad news - I might not and so my weekend down in Cambridge on Saturday and at the Kriegspiel game on Sunday will have to be scrapped.
Good news - If so I can play in this game on Saturday.
We'll see if I can get the repairs done by Saturday midday. I'll let you all know

Re: HITS Napoleon Game Saturday May 25th
This is every new car owners worst nightmare. That's the problem with current plastic cars. They get good gas mileage, but you can't even run over a cat without doing significant damage. That's why my preferred transportation is an old pickup. Mount a deer guard on the front end and you've got a tank. The even badder news is that the front plastic fairing of the car was pretty well demolished as two beefy ginger toms went head first through it at 70 mph.
