I found this good fun. The 2 armies are staffed by a team of historians (Union) and a team of wargamers (Confederate). But at various points, key decisions are made by a poll involving a much wider group. The teams then have to act broadly within those parameters. They are not always happy with the poll results but, as good soldiers, struggle to make things work!

Although it's a figure game, the concept seems to have some similarities with the admirable work Vincent has been doing lately with our online Waterloo group.
