I agree. With a bit of colouring for say woods, they would be even more pleasing to the eye.
You could definitely run a kriegsspiel with either set. There's a bit more detail on the Swabian ones I think.

Thanks Tim for this fantastic find.
In my experience, maps like these always benefit further from some highlighter added to an A3 printout; green for woods, blue for water, and (as some of the historical maps already use) red for buildings and yellow for roads.
Then photocopy or scan the highlighted printout in for a beautiful result.
