Anglo-America War of 1859 - QUERY Empty Anglo-America War of 1859 - QUERY

Subject: Anglo-America War of 1859

Hello Members,

My name is Simon Sobolewski and I am a volunteer Living Historian with the US National Parks Service and Parks Canada. My companions and I are considering putting on a 15mm "What-If" scenario at Fort Steilacoom and English Camp (both in Washington State). We would be playing this in the guise of British and American Officers playing Kriegsspiel in 1859 and use it as an Interpretive tool for visitors to both historic sites.

Here is one of the games but before we came up with this new idea:

Can anyone recommend a set of Kreigsspiel Rules that were in use in 1860 for us to use for the mechanics of our game? We will be using 15 mm lead figures and a 6 x 10 foot table top with terrain for the area (Northwest Pacific coast 1859).

Thank you.

In 1859 I think that players would still have been using a version the Reisswitz 1824 rules, or possibly the 1828 supplement published by officers of the Berlin Wargames club following Reissitz's suicide.

There were some further rule-sets published between 1828 and 1859, but from what I can see these were all very much based on Reissitz or are merely translations produced for other armies.

The first significant new work was by Tschischwitz in 1862.

Hope that helps

Strange as it works fine for me. Question

For those in the SEATTLE area:

Evolution of a Historic Fort & its Grounds
21 November, Sunday, 2-4 PM -- Quarters 2

farao study
Michael Sullivan of Artifacts Consulting will present a Power Point program showing the chronology of changes that occurred at Fort Steilacoom from its earliest times. Historic maps and photographs will be included. Quarters 2 at 2 p.m. Donations are encouraged.

Christmas at Ft. Steilacoom
11 December, Saturday 4–7:30 PM — Quarters 1-4

santa rendeer
Step back in time into historical Ft. Steilacoom as the soldiers, families, and friends celebrate Christmas 1860. See the fort come to life, and listen to the conversations of the past, as you are guided through the historical buildings illuminated by candlelight. Reenactors will present a period candle-light Christmas in the four remaining officers' quarters. There will also be children's craft activities, and the gift shop will be open for Christmas shopping.

Tickets will be available at the Fort Steilacoom Interpretive Center in Quarters 4 during the event, 4 to 7:30 p.m. Ticket fees are as follows: Adults $5, children $3, family $10. All proceeds go towards supporting continued preservation efforts & future interpretive activities.
