Re: Impromptu Games
I'll be there! I may have time to recreate my 1740s scenario. We won't have enough to play it probably but I'd like to at least test it if we have time.

Re: Impromptu Games
I have rebuilt my 1744 scenario from scratch (other than the OOB) and I'm getting the same problem as on Monday. It plays fine in SP but in MP the camera is moveable no matter what player radius setting I use. I've used a different map. I'm completely stumped as I can't see anything wrong in the OOB itself. It might be something to do with the troop placement limitations when using sandbox=2 which I've never used before. I'm selecting double line formation for each division but when the battle loads the formations are different to what they were when I saved the startlocs.

Re: Impromptu Games
I have an ACW scenario which will be fine vs the AI, as long as at least 5 of us play. It does really need that as a minimum though, so I'll wait and see how many we have in 25 mins.
Each player will need to take a division, but none of these are large.

Re: Impromptu Games
Yes another fun game. We ended up playing the Fontenoy Mod. Very colourful, and quite a change rom the usual.
A few tweaks we are thinking of making, but an excellent mod all the same.

Random selection of screenshots from yesterdays fun game. Kevin once again left both Martins in the lurch, Martin James twice! The cad knows no honour!
Gotta say, the sprites in this mod, even the lo-res ones, are superb. The hi-res ones are just amazing. These are all lo-res.

Our fearless CinC managed to get his division destroyed almost immediately, leaving me to clean up the mess. Again. Digby was somewhere on the field...I think. He may have even engaged the enemy.

Re: Impromptu Games
And in spite of Uncle Billy's efforts, I still had one remaining battalion to march into Nancy, alongside Digby's brave division.
General Digby is a gentleman of the utmost repute (at least on this occasion), and his testimony will no doubt carry great weight with the Court Martial. However, Uncle Billy frequently faces Court Martials for some reason, and has a good lawyer. He's a fly one alright, and not just on the battlefield

The various personas of Uncle Billy running through the centuries across many wars and countries reads like the Blackadder story... Peel aside the thin contemporary skin of whatever general he is that day and the same rogue can always be found beneath.

another court martial and I won't be part of it? - what is going on? it proves yet again, that this lunatic Crook, Georgia or whatever his name is these days must be dealt with - the sooner the better!

actually - that wasn't such a bad move in the first place - but I suggest to take Hötzendorfer and a few others along with him....

Re: Impromptu Games
you have caused havoc amongst these poor souls for long enough, Mr.! it's time a new butcher took over and ensures final victory on the field!
what do I care about the death of a few thousand soldiers? Do you want to live forever?

Re: Impromptu Games
I can play but have nothing prepared. Matt wants to refight Valladolid without any strategic constraints but I very much doubt we'll have enough players, plus this battle makes my PC grind to a halt, even at an 8:1 sprite ratio. I am puzzled by this, I'm sure we've played some bigger battles before without my game becoming a one-frame-per-five-seconds slide show so I am wondering if its some of the new sprites - maybe they are packed onto very large textures?
But I'm up for anything really, even a sandbox Fontenoy or Blenheim mod game.

The refight would be nice, but it is true too many players are needed. I'll be at teamspeak and we'll see....

Re: Impromptu Games
Yeah, I'll be there as well. I'll try to rally up some folks over at GCM land with the promise that this time we'll be fighting!
Re: Impromptu Games
I have made a version of Valladolid without Soult's II Corps and also deleting I Corps artillery reserve. This will be a little more balanced now. We can probably get away with Napoleon, Victor(with Vilatte's division), Ruffin, Lapisse and Beaumont for 5 players. A 6th could help run the guard. The Anglo-Spanish army however really needs 8 players.
Alternatively we can use the Vimerio OOB on a different map and task the British with attacking.
