My daughter is staying out there right now, in Houston with her American boyfriend. She keeps complaining of the heat. I should tell them to drive out your way and go swimming.

I grew up in the Houston area. The heat is oppressive because of the high humidity. I rarely go back there.
Ike and I live in beautiful New Braunfels, Texas, about 3 hours from Houston, between Austin and San Antonio.

Your daughter and her boyfriend should drive up. I'm sure he knows all about New Braunfels. The rivers are awesome and the only way we Texans survive the boiling summers. Spring fed, crystal clear, and cool -- fantastic.

I live on the east side of town, about two miles south of the Guadalupe River and four miles west of Lake McQueeny.  Not close to the river, but we were looking for something that wouldn't flood and was out of town when we bought here 17 years ago.  One out of two isn't bad:  the city annexed our area four years ago, but still no flooding at our house. Smile   Houston is about 170 miles - mileage varies depending on your location in Houston; that city is close to 40 miles from one side to the other! - from my house, so about a three hour drive, unless you speed.  That is a lovely photo of the river there, kg little mac, and almost makes me wish we'd bought along the river's edge ... almost.

This year has seen a relatively cool and wet spring and so far a coolish summer, compared to our usual.  No 100+ degrees yet, but humid and quite bright sun.  A bit of rain - half an inch or so - every other week ... nice.  I had a lunch with two players from "World of Tanks" here in town (at Pat's Place, kg) one from here and one from Austin, which is about 50 miles north of here less than one hour via the interstate highway.

I just thought of something, Mr. Digby, for your video woes:  xfire has a different compression set up and allows considerable uploading room for videos.  I'll have to check and see if they've adapted xfire for Scourge of War yet.  By all means, contact me for directions etc.  I just returned last week end from a trip that took me through Houston to Lake Charles, Louisiana and back; I was driving.  Shocked

(P.S.) - I just checked and the website is http://www.xfire.com/ and they allow up to 10 MB per upload - a 10-minute video, but when you upload the video, it is re-formatted. When I was using it for Blood Bowl games, I would have a 3 - 4 GB raw video file and the uploaded one would be 5 - 6 MB once it was re-formatted and uploaded. And that is done by the application; you don't have to fuss with it and it took five or ten minutes maximum to upload & reformat. Hope that helps.

For some daft reason the default upload status is "private". I changed it to "public".

I have been watching the video for this battle for a while and I wonder wether you play with the toolbar shown on it or the mod has been changed since more than a year ago?

The mod has changed. This was my early "Peninsular Campaign Mod" which we ran alongside the "KS Nap Mod". Kevin later merged the two. My mod mainly introduced most the Spanish army classes we have today, plus several of the French classes and a few other rinky-dinks like variations of infantry weapons for the Spanish.

All this was long before Kevin redesigned the toolbar entirely.
