Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Just FYI Kevin, Pat advised me last weekend that he can't used the newer versions of the SG. He's using 1.52 like me. He gets the same crash apparently.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I had tried 57 and 59 a while back and it didn’t work. So I asked Martin to send me 52. But I just downloaded the one Kevin sent on Discord 2 nights ago which says it is 57. And it worked. So that’s where I am at the moment.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Are you also adding the actual name of the formation, col. B in drills.csv?
These are existing formations:
Cav. Line,DRIL_Lvl4_Cav_Line
Art. Line,DRIL_Lvl4_Art_Line
But even if I choose the already present double line:
Cav. Dbl. Line,DRIL_Lvl4_Cav_DoubleLine
I get the same result. Artillery line, however, seems to work ok.
It's not a biggie as I'm going to be using "AlphaOmega" to adjust locations and formations anyway.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Just reporting in that I used v 1.55 to create a 24 division MP game on the Kelheim map and it works like a charm. I also love the feature where the divisions on the map show how much space they occupy.
I have no explanation for this nor do I doubt the reports of those of you who had a problem with it. But I think 1.55 is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Thanks for the kind words. Now for payment, how about creating some MP scenarios and joining us in playing them.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I have thought about it but I have two problems, one minor, one major.
The minor problem is the whole HITS thing. I don't find the concept all that appealing. It might make sense for a battalion or regimental commander but a brigade commander is going to look for a spot where he can see what his whole command is doing. I could probably get over that, though.
The big problem is that I am deeply involved in a dog rescue group and emergency situations arise that I simply have to deal with. I would hate to start a game and then have to bail out because Fido needs to be pulled out of a shelter before they euthanize him.
However, on the other point, if you could give me some parameters for what you want I'd be glad to take a shot at designing a scenario for you.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Just take command of a brigade. You shouldn't have too much of a problem finding a spot where you can see your whole brigade. The one thing to not do is try to fight your entire brigade at the same time. Most of us will fight with 2 or 3 btns. at a time, using any others as replacements when the frontline btns. become tired or suffer a lot of casualties. If you have to leave expectantly, the division commander can take command of your brigade. That's not an unusual occurrence in our games as they tend to last 3-3.5 hrs.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Hmmm..... okay, possible.
Two questions: Wouldn't I need to upgrade to whatever system you guys are using? And second, would that impact the scenarios I've already designed?

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Yes, have moved beyond version 1.31 and have weekly, sometimes thrice weekly updates. These are posted on the Discord server. Players just download and install them before we start playing the game. It's not a big deal. As far as your existing scenarios, the one change that would need to be made is designation of skirmishers. One modification we are testing is to reduce the number of entire btns. that can skirmish and add a number of companies that split off and skirmish. This is somewhat similar to the stock game except only one unit can be split off from a btn. and it's size is fixed. The fixed size is set by a value in a new column at the end of the OOB/scenario csv file. This new column would have to be added to your existing scenarios. It only takes a couple of minutes, but is necessary.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Sounds as if I could just keep v 1.31 for myself and set up a new folder for the new mod.
I still have v 1.30 in the directory because I've been too lazy to remove it! This would give ne an incentive to delete it.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I just tried adding the supply trains to a scenario and it crashed at the point of scenario generation. Kevin, are there any particular rules the OOB must follow for the supply trains to work? I have a supply wagon at the end of each division in both armies.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Do you have the SupplyTrains.csv file in the Maps and OOBs folder? Ist the OOB one of the KS standard OOBs?

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
I tried to add the wagons in one time. They showed up but were immobile. I figured it was a sprite issue and just increased the amount of ammo the guns start with. The gunners usually collapse with exhaustion before they run out of bullets!

Yes, that file is in with the OOBs and Maps. The OOB is one I have just created using sections from two other KS OOBs, the Russian 1812 one and the Peninsula one. Is there anything new I need to be aware of for the supply trains to work?

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Yes. If you have created your own OOB, you need to enter the relevant data into SupplyTrain.csv. It needs to know the name of OOB so it knows what nationalities to include. The part of the OOB name needed is the part after NAP_. The next 4 lines contains the commander and supply wagon data for sides 1 & 2. Use the existing data as a reference. It's not difficult to include data for your own OOB.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Cheers, I hadn't opened the supply train csv file and had (wrongly) assumed it was just some funky bits of code that added wagons generically to all OOBs. I'll add mine to it.

Is the SupplyTrain.csv file something new as I don't appear to have that at all?

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Yes its very new, only released as a test option a couple of weeks back. Once debugged it will appear in the next mod version.
Please be aware that the online KS MP games use a newer version of the mod altogether with updates often weekly and sometimes in the middle of a battle!

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Kevin, can you give me a quick run-down of how to create a new entry in the supply wagons csv. I can't see these entries in unitglobal but they are in OOBnames.xml. I see you've created a new unit type of "ST_" but I can't see where this is referenced. I'm curious where it picks the info up from.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Since you are using existing armies, you can just copy the appropriate entries that are already in SupplyTrains.csv, (you may have to change the side number though). That is the only place where the entries exist. There is a class type in unitglobal, Baggage_Wagon, (used by all countries & listed after Wurttemberg classes) and CDR_Wgn, (each country has its own). The ST_ are just generic names and IDs. They are used for any country and any OOB. When the game reads in the scenario it ignores these two columns and uses an index number to identify all the units.

Re: SOW Scenario Generator
Thanks.
You don't seem to have done entries for the Peninsula forces yet. For the Spanish I can use another existing entry for now though.

I guess it was because I wasn't sure the Spanish army had the wheel back then. If you are certain, I'll add one.
