Thanks for the game everyone. I really enjoyed it, once we got moving! I was quite surprised that the rebs facing me didn't amount to much  Smile

Those who played will know of course that there were some problems with my set-up; I still don't know what was wrong and if anyone wants to help, please note that I am only really available until Wednesday evening.

Cheers,

Richard

Ok Richard, I will get together with you over the next 2 or 3 days and we’ll see if we can get to the bottom of it.  Best guess at the moment is a corrupt Antietam expansion download.

In the end, we played a scenario on one of the stock maps without problems.  It was a hard-fought game, set in the Trans Mississippi.  The Union had recently taken Vicksburg, and had now sent a powerful all-arms force west across the river to secure the area around the town of Monroe, in northern Louisiana.  If possible, it was to defeat the force of Theophilus Holmes, who was known to be operating in the area.

Holmes’ corps was significantly weaker, but he had summoned a strong additional division to his assistance. This was approaching from the S, under AI command.  It’s precise whereabouts were not clear to the Confederate team, but it’s very existence was unknown to the boys in blue.

As scenario designer, I took a very minor role, out on the Reb northern flank, so I would be interested to hear the story of the battle from those more centrally involved.  Overall, the 2 sides were fairly evenly-matched in both numbers and quality.  The result was a clear northern victory, so well-played Yanks.  I did save a replay, if anyone would like a copy.

We had 10 players, which was our largest game for a while I think.  A very healthy development so early into our new regular schedule.

Does that cover several points of view? If so I would like to see it.

Thanks ...

Replay on its way.  You can look at the action in any part of the map by opening up the mini map and clicking on the sector you are interested in, or just by moving your mouse.
