I'll send it to you when I get home this evening. I don't want to make it an official part of the mod until I get more input from people who have tried it.

I've tried it, very briefly, and love it. It strikes me as how the game should work. ie, regiments stay in the formation they're in unless you order them to change formation. It works with the GCM toolbar. You don't fancy doing a HITS & Couriers toolbar, do you???

Jeff

It does? Which button? I thought it worked with the GCM mod not the GCM toolbar (which is separate).Blaugrana wrote:It works with the GCM toolbar.
Hm, maybe its a newer version of the toolbar I need, mine is quite an old one.

I think even players who use the stock toolbar in GCM games have their regiments/brigades/divisions hold the formation issued. I will ask Garnier about it.

Ok - just got away from the forum to play the game a bit and it works as we've discussed with some buttons on my GCM toolbar. I must have got that toolbar some time ago. No idea of version, I'm afraid. Playing with it a bit more I have realised I'm rubbish at testing because I'm not sufficiently methodical or observant. I have also been reminded of how many different ways there are of ordering troops to move. IT is very complicated.Mr. Digby wrote:It does? Which button? Anyway, I've played around a little bit and I think this is what I found (with the Antietam trees mod, GCM Toolbar & Couriers & Maps activated, in that order).
Select a Brigade commander, have the brigade in single line, then:
click on the green 'advance 100 yard' button and the regiments advance in line. Lovely to watch!
click on the green 'advance 300 yard' button and the regiments advance in line.
click on the terrain and the regiments advance in line.
Select a Division commander, have the division in double line (single line not available):
click on the green 'advance 100 yard' button and the regiments advance in line.
click on the green 'advance 300 yard' button and the regiments switch into column.
I hope other, more methodical and reliable testers are giving you feedback, Kevin. To me this is a better default way of ordering troops to move. My only caveat is that it could be difficult to mod it across the board but it could be confusing if the same logic is not followed across the board.
I hope this makes sense. Thanks again to Kevin, the Kriegspiel modfather.
