Pimp up my Forum :-)
Just thought I'd put this out for discussion.
I'm sure the last thing any established member of this excellent group wants is a new member criticising the forum, that is absolutely not my intention.
I wondered if there might be a way of improving the visual look of this forum at some time in the future.
I'm aware that this sort of thing is not important to some and everyone has their own likings and style but with increasing popularity of SOW in particular and the opportunity to increase the ranks of KS, might it be worth considering sprucing up the forum and adding more visual flavour.
The Napoleonic clan that I am a member of uses Freeforums

Although there are advertisements to tolerate (nobody likes that but you don't notice them after a bit), there are better upload functions and the option of a shoutbox. Quite a few styles to chose from.
A couple of quick screen shots to illustrate.

Hopefully I didn't offend

Re: Pimp up my Forum :-)
Personally I'm a big fan of black or dark grey text on a white or very pale background. Almost every combination of a dark background and pale text hurts my eyes and if a forum has an option I switch it off immediately!
I also browse this forum at lunchtime at work and the simpler it is and the fewer pictures it has the better. In fact the more a forum looks like a Word document or an Excel spreadsheet the more it gets my vote!
I wish there was an option to switch avatars off.

Some ideas will get taken up, and others won't. But no-one should feel inhibited about making suggestions.

There are two versions of the forum, classic and mobile version. I much prefer the former, despite the adverts. If you have only seen one version, have a shufti at the other. If you've already seen both, ignore me!

I would agree Mr Digby, the KS forum colours are pleasing to the eye. I would not be in favour of the black background and gaudy text colours adopted by my clan, although I have rather got used to them now.
Jeff, I believe you are referring to the mobile version that I use on my smartphone. It is a bit basic but quick and easy.
Thanks Martin, as you might have gathered by now I am perhaps over-sensitive and try hard not to offend :-)
Being new to this forum I might have overlooked some of the image sharing functions it has. Just gonna try hosting an image

Hmmm, not what I tried to do.
Is it possible to display images on the forum rather than just links?
Forgive my ignorance
