LOC Protection Force Empty LOC Protection Force

Thanks again for a Great Game last night. A really nice scenario, Pat. My command was lucky not to get wiped out but, luckily, the flanking force in the North East bypassed me and headed for our LOC. It has to be said that Napoleon would not be impressed Very Happy

We had no idea that our LOC had been taken.

I wondered if Scenarios that include LOC's might have a separate small force detached, specifically for LOC protection. This would be AI controlled and on defend orders but would have a General that is able to send a report to the CiC, if attacked. Would this work and would it be worth trying? Do reports get sent by AI units in MP games?

Yes, it was a fun battle. The best part for me was watching Pat's men eat copious amounts of canister. Warm fuzzies for a couple of hours. Very Happy It was disappointing that the Russians didn't turn on you and give you some rough handling. The limited visibility probably save you.

Currently, only in SP do divisions give feedback to the corps commander. I can easily change that, but if there is no human corps commander, there will be no reporting.

I think we have gone down a slippery slope with these LoC objectives. No-one wants to stay back and guard them and no-one has the time or opportunity to check if they are safe. My scenarios don't include them and I think we should move away from them on the assumption that other troops behind the fighting line would be given those kinds of jobs. Lets make our scenarios into battles to overcome an enemy or capture positions rather than have to worry about our backs.

Thanks Kevin

I agree, Martin, with everything you said there.

Perhaps, in some occasional scenarios, the LOC might be made important but I would be in favour of concentrating on battlefield objectives or beating the enemy's field army.

I think we are beginning to shelve the importance of protecting the LOC objective, anyway.
