Question about new play mode

Post  76mm on Fri Dec 28, 2018 8:07 pm

I have a question about play modes--in particular while I'm really enjoying the game, HITS is a bit overwhelming for me at this point, and causes me to miss out on a lot of the action.

At the same time, however, I do enjoy being restricted to an officer's-eye-view, so what I'd like to do is tie the camera view to an officer's-eye-view, but any officer instead of only the commander. That why I could cycle through the various commanders to see what they can see.

Not sure if I'll ultimately care for this play mode, but I would like to give it a try if I can set if up via a mod, etc.?

I think you can just set the Max Camera distance to 0 and that will allow you to jump around. You can then press the 'F' button twice to lock yourself to the saddle. Press it a 3rd time and you can move the camera around again.

I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Yeah, but the problem with that is that:
1)  too easy to turn off Follow and just play as normal; and
2)  generally I find it really irritating to use follow, because 95% of the time I am just looking at someone's (my?) back and can't see anything at all.

Any way to limit maximum camera elevation, etc?

You can set the HITS limit a bit higher, maybe 20 might work a bit better.

AFAIK you cannot limit the camera height, only its distance from the player. You are either fixed with HITS or the camera is free. "Follow" is the only other alternative which isn't a terribly good one.

I suggest you begin with a small command like a brigade and get used to commanding at that level with HITS, then when you feel ready, try a small division. There are some quite tiny ones out there in the OOBs.
