Next map will be a Polish excursion and I'm doing this one in winter condition, but with a light dusting of snow so its different to our other "very snowy" maps. Quite an easy map to work on, very few farms and towns, just a lot of scrub, streams, woods and fields.

A few progress shots:

And a bridge that worked first time! *shocked*

"Polish" with eastern orthodox Church Smile
Not saying it's bad - looks good and could be eastern part of former Polish kingdom.
The thing is, "Poland" was quite diverse in terms of architecture... I don't think there were any Eastern Orthodox churches west of Vistula river.
so there would be significant differences East vs West and North vs South...

Wooden Bridge looks good cheers

Good to get a local perspective. I can get rid of the Russian Othodox churches and put in Catholic ones. Would the Belgian/Protestant ones from the WL set work?

We have the Russian wooden cabins from the Alpine/Smolensk maps, plus all manner of European buildings and the Crimea hovels used on some Spanish maps. Obviously cities like Warsaw are very much NW European architecture/classical and I was going to put one new big town/small city on the map, but the rest of the map is 100% rural.

What would you recommend? I haven't begun placing buildings yet and would like to get it right.

A quick Google search brings up this which looks like our Russian wood cabins won't be far off the mark. There's also some very basic German style buildings - I can see the Sharpsburg map Dunker church is going to look about right.

Just found some images of Polish wooden churches. Damn, quite unlike anything anywhere else except the N Balkans, Hungary, Carpathians, Transylvania, etc!

The bridge is very impressive. I was always happy if some of the troops crossed on the bridge and assumed it was a problem where the bridge did not cover the whole hex, hence the overlap to the side.

That looks very, very, nice..... ( imagining my cannon firing canister at close range into it!)
