Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
I have opened this thread to arrange games set during the day for both west and east of the Atlantic. For the US west coast this means times as early as 08:00 - 09:00, east coast 11:00 - 12:00 and western Europe about 16:00.
With one of the present UK players unable to get stable connectivity in the evenings, 16:00 is about the latest he can safely begin a 2 hour game.
We can discuss both ACW and Napoleonic games here, as well as other periods using mods.

Yeaaaaaaa
I am all for it....especially ACW! However, anything before 0900 local time would be difficult as I don't get up until 0800. Then must have time for the toiletries, breakfast and a quick look at the sports page of the newspaper. Yes, I think 0900 would be agreeable.
Of course, we have daylight savings time coming in a couple of weeks.
Put me down for your ACW ventures, Mr. Digby. (Blue Woad, indeed!)

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
Hi Jack!
I had quite forgotten you were still loitering about and wanting to play ACW.
I've been talking on PMs with Jim and Jess, our two new members, plus Martin J about a possible Monday game slot in the daytime but have just heard that Monday is a day Martin cannot make. With Wednesday, Friday and Sunday our regular Nap game days that leaves Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
A few of us have been meeting now and then on Thursdays to playtest Martins Little Big Horn mod so that day seems like it could work.
What do people think?

Monday works
Hi all
I am retired. So any day of the week for a regular battle is fine with me. Plus 0800 my time is do-able. Those of you who are not old yet don't know that old men usually wake up very early. All those years of dragging yourself to work, wishing you could stay in bed. Then when you can, you won't. Another of natures increasingly savage ironies.
Anyway I'm good for any day, and just about any time.
Jim and I started SOW only a few months ago. Initially I had a lot of trouble staying in the game. My Computer kept bouncing me out. I run windows 10 (to my everlasting regret) and it turns out windows 10 users have had some trouble with SOW. You guys probably know all this already.
After reading about and doing everything I could think of. We discovered that my problem only occurs if we are playing a sandbox battle. Why this is so is a mystery to me, but since we switched to game scenarios it has not happened.
So fingers crossed and I'll see you all on Monday
Regards Jess

Windows 10
Yes.....I, too, now run Windows 10 and am concerned about crashing! I think that Morsey has some experience and perhaps has discovered a cure! Eh, Morse???????????? This is the only problem I think I have. Seems as if Morsey was/is running both 7 and 10. Is that a viable option?
Time---makes no difference. Day---makes no difference. Side---makes no difference. I have been doing some genealogy work and find that I have a whole lot of relatives on both sides including a g-grandfather who deserted the 36th Georgia two weeks before they surrendered at Vicksburg! Probably, a wise move. LOL Also, helps to explain my Georgia cracker redneck! Had no idea my family had lived in Georgia! Guess I have to quit bad-mouthing those "crackers" since "I is one!" LMAO

SOWGB works fine with WIN10 but it does not work with the GCM mods and SOWGB. Just last week I played about a 3 hour game with the guys using the LBH mod.

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
Everything as long as you are not using GCM Mods. I think the constant reporting that the GCM does with on line games is what crashes with 10 but that is just a guess, since I can use other mods without trouble and none of those report game status to the GCM site when we play. Maybe the GCM mods offline will work but I have never tried that.

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
No GCM Mods. We'd go back to the KS Couriers and Maps mods plus maybe Martin James' Additional Flags and Sprites.
It would be very useful if you Jim and Jess, could let us know which NSD add-on map packs you have got.
I am thinking of issuing an extra map pack mod to include all the maps that I have cluttering up my game install. If we all have all the freebie maps in the same mod it will be a lot easier. This includes literally 100s of GCM random maps.
I ran the game just now to test it still worked and was shocked to see flags on the artillery limbers! Didn't we remove those, or was that only for the Nap Mod?

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
You should be able to use the KS SOW Supplemental Maps Mod 1.15 along with Couriers & Maps for all the free maps. In this case, you would not use any that start with a country name.

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
I can participate in regular ACW games at 1400GMT on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Not Fridays or Saturdays.
For my part, I have added no map mods from the NSD forum's mods thread yet. Just let me know what might be needed, and I'll get it. I don't think Jess has any map mods either, but I'm not sure. Jess?
Where can I download the "KS SOW Supplemental Maps Mod 1.15"?

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
Good morning, gents, it's a lovely cold day here in New England . I hope the Eylau game went well yesterday, for those who fought on that frozen field.
Yesterday Jess & I played an SoW-GB MP game ourselves, starting at 1800GMT. We played as division C/O's in Sickles' III Corps, trying to fend off the Reb onslaught on July 3, 1863, and got our butts kicked, but had a blast . In the midst of the carnage, Morse popped into our channel on the KS TS server, to introduce himself and say hello, on his way to Eylau I believe. It's always good to meet another member of Patriots Nation ...
Jess and I will be in the KS TeamSpeak server's lobby at 1600GMT today for our first KS SoW-GB MP game with those of you who can make it. Am I right that we're going to try it today, even though Martin cannot make it on Mondays? Is there a tradition in the KS community of arriving in TS early to shoot the breeze, or do most folks just show up at the appointed time, kitted out with full haversacks and 60 rounds?
Mr. Digby, has consensus been reached on a different day of the week for a regular KS SoW-GB game? From reading through the thread, it seems Tuesdays and/or Thursdays seems agreeable to all. And many thanks to those hear for such a warm welcome for Jess and I...
Jim ;-)

Yes, unfortunately I cannot make it today Jim.
But have a great game, and we'll hook-up soon I'm sure.

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
Its iffy that I will make it today, but if I can be there I'll be there at 15:45. If I'm not, it means my other appointment took over.
I shall be busy Tuesday I think as well, though that's not 100% certain.
IIRC we are playing an LBH game this Thursday at 15:45 - you may or may not want to join that. Martin?
This week in particular is just a bit of an unknown for me. I should be around next week though and Tuesday or Thursday is good for me.

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
Thursday is a specific scenario designed to test certain features of the new LBH mod, and so there are a limited number of roles.
That said, I can just about squeeze in one more. Particularly a young officer of Jim's calibre. If you're interested Jim, PM me with your email and I'll send you the briefing.

Re: Daytime Games - ACW or Nap
We are going to try for Tuesdays at 16:00 GMT, meeting in TS around 15:45 (though that's a desirable extra and not a cast iron requirement). We shall probably attempt shorter scenarios of 2 1/2 or just 2 hours as Martin J's internet connection goes all wobbly around 19:00 GMT.
We'll focus on ACW games initially, so will use the SoW Gettysburg game patched to v1.61.
You do not need any add-on packs but the more people who have more of them, the more map variation we can play on. The Pipe Creek and Brandy Station maps are especially nice.
Mods you will need are:
Couriers and Maps v1.61 (you need the 'small' version if your screen's vertical resolution is less than 1024 pixels, otherwise you need the 'large' version).
https://kriegsspiel.forumotion.net/t370-set-up-for-sow-acw-games-for-kriegspiel-style
KS Supplemental Maps v1.15
https://kriegsspiel.forumotion.net/t1451-set-up-for-sowwl-napoleon-games-for-kriegspiel-style
The KS Maps mod includes ALL the free-to-download maps that the community has made.
And Martin James' "Additional Flags and Sprites" Mod. For this we currently don't have a link - Martin can you upload it and leave it on Dropbox? I know you've uploaded it before but you seem to keep removing it!
Thanks all.

I know .
It's because I only have limited capacity in my dropbox, and these mods are all quite large. But (as it's you) have put a copy of Version 1.48 here https://www.dropbox.com/s/wha4cnzp1b82ayv/Additional%20ACW%20flags%20%26%20sprites%20v1_48.zip?dl=0
Cannot leave it there long though.
As and when I can, am working on an update, which will focus on the ACW in the Indian Territory at a sprite ratio of 1:3.

Got it, Martin. Thanks!
We'll be having our first SoW-GB Tuesday game tomorrow, scenario dependent on how many show up.
Here in New England we'll be enduring a big nor'easter, with over 24" of snow just north of Boston. Fortunately for us down on Cape Cod, it will just graze us, only 6" they say, though with 60mph winds.
Jim ;-)
