KS Napoleon Mod II 1.19 & KS SOW Supplemental Maps 1.13
A new version of the KS Napoleon Mod, (version 1.19) and the KS Supplemental Maps, (version 1.13) has been uploaded. The links are in the first post of this thread: Setup for SOWWL Napoleon Games
Two new maps, German Chickamauga, (thanks to Mark Tewes), and Russian Winter Alpine, (thanks to Crikey), maps are added.
Cavalry has been remodeled. It is now in regimental units rather than in squadrons. This forces the cavalry to behave in a much more historic manner. No more scalpel-like thrusts, darting in between friendly infantry units to attack a vulnerable enemy battalion. Now enough space has to be created in the line to allow passage or the cavalry has to move to the flanks of the line. This results in battles where the cavalry does not become involved until the latter stages when it acts as a hammer. Another consequence is that it gives the infantry commander more time to see a threat develop and respond appropriately.
OOBs have been converted so the cavalry is in regimental formations. The old squadron level OOBs are there too. They all begin with OOB_SB_KS_NAP_SQN.
A few other map tweaks and minor AI behavior changes.
Lastly, everyone's favorite Austrian march music has been replaced. I know a few will be heartbroken.

Thank heavens. One devoutly hopes that as part of this latest upgrade the entire Austrian regimental band has been take out and shot!

Thanks Kevin. Nice work. I wasn't aware you were working on a v1.19 otherwise I'd have asked that NSDs Prussian landwehr cavalry sprite be included as we sorely need it for the campaign. Can it please be added?
Its quite different from the existing Prussian uhlan.

Try using the stock Prussian lancers. They are pretty close and certainly different from what we use, (class name UGLB_PR_Cav_1).

I tried those Kevin, but they just look like line Uhlans. The Landwehr uniform is very distinct. There's really no other cavalry like them since they wear the cavalry frock coat or Überrock and generally have leather shako covers while on campaign.

Question about 1.19
Hi.
In this new version (1.19), will commanders still die if they get within a few hundred yards to an enemy unit?
I'm still using 1.17 to avoid this. I play solo.
Thanks.

That is removed from SP play. It is still there in MP.

None of my hotkeys seem to work with Waterloo. I tried it in stock, but TC (1 before), cycling through the OOB (up, down etc), none of those work. Am I missing something? I still got Garniers old hotkey.csv flying around. Haven't tried to force it on Waterloo (don't know if I could) because I can't seem to get the basics to work.

It sounds as if you missing the file keyboard.csv which is located in \My Documents\SOWWL.

Hi folks.
Just a big thank-you to whoever is responsible for 1.19 and the new maps.
Regards, CJ.

That would be Kevin, but don't pour on the accolades too thickly as he tends to let his head swell and sit back to bask in his own glory. This is a disaster for future mod versions. He needs to be kept busy so he doesn't get out of practice. I tend to find that a minor complaint about something is enough to spur him on.

Thanks Kevin
Unfortunately, I havn't played it much as I am still getting unresponsive AI enemy in SP and have been looking elsewhere for my SP fun.
The good news is that I have finally got a job with normal hours and hopefully more opportunity for MP gaming. It will start around September.
I've got a week off, so hopefully join you for a game this week

About time.
Read the AI section of the Scenario Generator pdf for some ideas on how to make the AI side follow your general intentions. The scenarios that are included in the mod show the type of AI behavior you can expect.
