I was surprised you didn't show up Morsey, now I understand.

With these gentleman's lessons I am starting to master the art of commanding a division on HITS. It's a great General Staff Academy. Cool

Wait until Hays gets back to play with us and takes the C-in-C role. Then you'll learn some interesting military manouvers that even Napoleon never mastered!

Unfortunately I cannot make our regular Saturday game this week, but could play on Sunday if anyone is up for that.

Happy with teams or coop, and any period.    I probably have time to put a scenario together if a consensus emerges quickly, and we get a good feel of numbers.

Have put up a doodle, with quite a wide range of times - from 5 to 9 pm UK time.

I'll be able to make Saturday, but almost certainly not Sunday Wink

BTW, no campaign battle this week - not yet anyway.

For Sunday's game, I have created an ACW scenario for a change!   It is set in eastern Arkansas in September 1862.  The new Confederate commander there, Tom Hindman, is in the process of raising an army to replace the troops recently taken east of the Mississippi by Van Dorn and Price.

Depending on numbers, it will work either as a team game, or with as few as 3 players coop vs the AI.

Here is the doodle.

You will also need the Pipe Creek maps expansion, and the Additional Flags & Sprites Mod v1.45, which you can get here https://www.dropbox.com/s/28vfbw5g95u67vh/Additional%20ACW%20flags%20%26%20spritesv1_45.zip?dl=0

The Prussians at Lynchburg it is.  I assume we will be the ones with the stiff knee joints.

Everyone should download the latest nappy mod, version 1.710, and the supplemental maps mod.

November, 1813

Generallieutenant von Ziethen is a man of few pleasures.  But those he has include a good stein of beer and a good fight.  Today portends to be a good one as he has both. The beer flowed like water in town last night.  The general had a bit much and had to be taken to General Henckel's 4th division headquarters in the early morning hours as the ride to his own would have been impossible given his state.

With the sun well up now, Ziethen has finally been aroused and is seated on his horse.  The motion of the horse does his head no favors with the day promising to be a long one.  A French corps, reportedly under the command of Général de Division Vandamme has been seen NW of the town.  Cavalry reports indicate the enemy has taken up a strong position along the NW bank of the shallow Segua River.  Your scouts were able to penetrate the light enemy cavalry screen and observed three division well deployed.  Each French division has deployed 3 batteries in front of their lines, which seem to be composed of 3 brigades.  Your ADC has taken the initiative to deploy your corps along the main road into town, centered on the village of Alcanterilla.

Vandamme's corps is known to be a very experienced and led by extremely good commanders.  It is said to be light on cavalry, which allowed your own to successfully reconnoiter their position to some degree.  It is also a good thing as your own is not of very high quality.  Only Henckel's division is without its mounted arm.

The smell of gunpowder may be just the medicine your poor aching head needs, although the booming of the cannon may be unwelcome.  The corps awaits the order to advance.

As usual, player may not be more than 200 yds in front of their troops.  But 3 of the 4 divisions have cavalry, so this should not be a problem.

Prussian Order of Battle

The French have a good position. A Borozdin-type, straight ahead tactic will likely fail in this battle.

It was Ziethen, not Borodzin and he did very well. Calpurnius took command and led us to a splendid victory.

Indeed, everyone played extremely well supporting one another. Had we not done so, the AI would have had its way with us.

What time are we playing tomorrow?

General Hindman has developed an infallible plan. It is perfect in every detail and cannot possibly fail. His genius in placing a depot so far forward and away from proper support will be hailed by military students for decades to come as a masterstroke.

Yes indeed.  Already the knives in Richmond are being sharpened..........

We understand that Hindman's imminent disgrace is the main topic at cocktail parties.

And I thought yesterday's battle was a hard one... Rolling Eyes

I am getting the couriers and maps 1.610 mod and flags and sprites v1.45.

I also would like to use Bugles and FlagsMP toolbar, GCMTerrain4, TC2M_SOWInfantry mod and 4K packed Artillery, Cavalry et.

Questions: Can I use all of them?
Any other mod you would recommend, and is not here.

Yes it's probably safest to stick to that one, Pepe.

It looks as if there will be 5 of us today btw.  Have heard from Josh and Jack, and I think both are playing.  That would be good as you could consider placing someone as a brigade commander for Walker's division.  That would give the northern force more flexibility.

Hindman's plan, as any all seeing and all encompassing plan, has taken into account every permutation possible. Nothing is left to chance. It is a work of scientific precision.

To give you a small taste, Pepe will take command of Walker's division with Jack taking one of the infantry brigades. Martin, who has thoughtfully given us a division of untrained rabble will take Rains' division and fight them with elan.
